Abstract

Capensisone, isoshinanolone, diomuscinone , α-amyrin acetate, plumbagin,  α-amyrin , β-sitosterol and  β-sitosterol-3β-D- glucoside have been isolated from the methanol extract of the roots of Plumbago capensis. Capensisone, a novel quinone is the first report from the roots of Plumbago capensis. The structure of these compounds has been established on the basis of FT- IR, 1H NMR, and 13 C NMR spectral data.
