Abstract

Naphthalene acetic acid complexes have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, 1H NMR and UV- Visible spectra and electrochemical measurements. The antimicrobial properties of these compounds have been evaluated against the test strains (A. niger, St. aureus- Streptococcus aureus) and thus a significant use of such compounds as antibacterial agent is reported. The biological activity data show that the present compounds are found to have greater antibacterial and antifungal activity than the respective standards.
