A controlled drug delivery system administers medication locally or systemically at a predetermined pace and for a specified duration, ensuring that oral medications are continuously delivered throughout the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) at known, repeatable kinetics. By utilizing drug-encapsulating devices, these advanced systems enable the regulated release of therapeutic agents over extended periods ranging from days to months. Consequently, this approach offers numerous significant advantages over conventional drug administration techniques, including the ability to precisely customize drug release rates, safeguard chemically delicate medications from premature degradation, and substantially improve overall patient comfort and compliance.
